Union Fashion Center El Paso, Texas

This 60,000 square-foot interior renovation for Union Fashion Ltd, the oldest clothing store in El Paso was developed in two phases. For this project, Wright and Dalbin renovated the two first floors and basement of the Historical Popular Building (National Historical Register) in Downtown El Paso, which was recently purchased by Union Fashion.

The design included major structural and life safety work to change the existing basement to a 45-space underground parking garage. The first floor, completed in July1999, houses the men's clothing store. The mezzanine floor, women's clothing store and restaurant were completed in August 2000. The objectives were to design a classy and warm retail environment where new clothing designers such as BCBG, Mochino, Versaci, Kenneth Cole and 4U could coexist with more traditional ones like Zegna, Canali and Tallia.

The restaurant boasts an excellent mid-range to upscale menu serving store customers as well as a brisk downtown lunchtime crowd.

Cost: $1,800,000 Completed: August 2000
