Two new apartment complexes [designed by Wright & Dalbin Architects, Inc.] opened last week as part of the Lower Dyer Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy.
The Commons, just off Dyer at 3330 Lincoln and 3830 Johnson, are affordable homes that have taken the place of older run-down houses.
"This is just the first part of the project," said TVP assistant director Sussette Kennedy. "They are affordable homes, which means you have to income-qualify. A single person cannot make more than $15,000 annually."
"They are energy-efficient," Kennedy said. "There is no copper tubing. It is a flex system, which means you will never hear of pipes busting."
Other amenities include evaporative air conditioning, a low-flow water system, double-pane windows and Energy Star appliances. The units will come with refrigerators, gas ranges and water heaters.
